A friend of mine's girlfriend is trying to convince him to buy a cat. I think this is a really bad idea, and I need five good reasons to convince him not to. Can you help me (and him) out?

There was an annoying cat on my doorstep today. My neighbor felt bad and gave it some food and milk (he is nicer than I am). And it kept trying to run into my house everytime I left and came back. This isn't a great story, but the point is, don't get a cat. Especially if you live by me and you can't keep your cat locked up in your own house.

Ha! That's funny. I don't mind cats, but I hate their hair! The biggest reason for not having cats in my mind is avoiding the maintenance of constanting vacuuming, de-linting your clothes, not being able to have nice furniture because the cats will shed on it, etc. Also - allergies. Guaranteed that your mom or your brother or your sister's fiance will be allergic to the cats and will affect whether they're able to visit you. Best of luck saving your friend!
