Looking for a mantastic mixed drink (Completed)

Pledged
$5.00

$5.00
Generally, I like to drink beer and wine, but that's only because the majority of mixed drinks out there are way too sweet and way too girlie. I'll mix up a gin and tonic or dirty martini on occasion, but I need some variety in my drinking repetroire.

We'll be trying all of these at the Capitol Hill BBQ (http://www.evite.com/pages/invite/viewInvite.jsp?inviteId=WYGQIBCLVAJPVOFNYYOJ&li=iq&src=email&trk=aei2) - send me or vijayb a message if you want to attend.

So who's got an tasty, not-too-sweet mixed drink recipe that I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen drinking? The ingredients should be relatively easy to acquire (eg. available in the local supermarket) and no umbrellas, please.

Outcome: Completed

This was a tough one (especially on the liver), but the SUBLIMATOR with a couple small adjustments was the most original (who's ever heard of Gatorade in a mixed drink?), tastiest, and most mantastic (red bull and liquor keeps you manly all night).

Absinthe isn't available in most countries, but I found that Pernod is a really good substitute. Also, I found that 10oz of Gatorade was a bit much - 4oz is a better mix. An equal mix of Pernod, Red Bull, and Gatorade is the way to go.

Served in an 18oz beer stein, this cocktail is the second most manly thing existing, barring the existence of Chuck Norris' evil twin. It is called the SUBLIMATOR; always in all capitals.

INGREDIENTS-

4oz Absinthe,
4oz Red Bull,
10oz Gatordade (lemon-lime)

Serve with long-hafted slotted spoon and a blindfold.

The tasting at the BBQ got a bit "disorganized", so I'll finish trying the rest of these drinks over the next week and choose a winner.

Just the Classic Jack Daniels and Ginger Ale is a simple option while still sure to make you feel mantastic!

This one is so mantastic it will add hair to your chest. It's actually from my days in the U.S. Army.

The Boilermaker (not flaming, but close):

1 beer served in a glass or mug (your choice of beer)
1 shot of whiskey (again, your choice)

Drop the shot of whiskey (shot glass and all) into the beer. If you like, you can throw in a slice of ginger for special effects and added flavor.

Enjoy!

One Spelling Error In My Solution. I Spelled "Jagermeister" With A "Y" But It Is Actually Pronounced The Way I Spelled It In My Solution.

A twist on the standard rum and coke - try Bacardi's Vanilla rum or Coco rum. Coco rum and coke are a huge favourite during my annual summer vacation with some college friends. I like the Vanilla rum, but it's sweet enough that I usually drink it with diet coke.

Like I said - creative and original drinks will be favored. Flaming ones that I've never heard of would be especially favored. For example, a flaming ginger whiskey drink with topped with fresh hops would probably do pretty well...

Oh wait, I know what we need: a drink with 151 in it that we can set on fire. Is there anything manlier than drinking something that was just on fire? You'd be firemanly. This site has a bunch. ( http://www.drinksmixer.com/cat/22/ ) But I bet someone out there could create a new concoction. Go mob, go!

A Manhattan with something like Maker's Mark. Sure there's a cherry in there, but trust me, you need it.

Are Mojitos too girlie? They're some kind of clear soda mixed with rum and muddled with mint leaves. I personally think they are quite delicious...but then again...I am a girl.

When I want to feel like an old man, I drink a Gin Gimlet, which is just lime juice and gin. It makes your face get all scrunched up. That's manly.

Many of my guy friends seem to enjoy drinking red bull mixed with vodka (good vodka, not the cheap kind).

Plus the red bull gives it an extra kick and wings :)

Whiskey and coke. Can't get more mantastic than taht (unless you break a chair over someone's head at the bar after drinking it. Yee-haw!)
