Need an easy and efficient way to stop deers from coming to my yard (Expired)

$5.00
My area has a lot deers. They constantly come to my yard for food. They ate my flowers, chewed the tree barks. Is there any efficient way to keep them away?

As far as the trees go, you can get these plastic sleeves at gardening stores that just wrap around your trees. The deer can't (or won't) chew through these. They're really inexpensive and, since they are brown, aren't an eyesore.

I know it may sound old fashioned, but a scarecrow is, in many cases, enough to get rid of deer. If that idea isn't too appealing, you can buy scare tape. Any bright colored tape will work. Just put it in random places around your yard. Change the location of the tape every couple of days to prevent the deer becoming accustomed to it. This should work, and is a very cheap way to solve the problem.

Hope these help you out!

Have you considered buying a shotgun?

Hiding blocks of salt in my neighbors' yards? I don't quite understand the logic behind this. Please explain...

I would recommend regularly hiding blocks of salt in your neighbors' yards. While there may be more deer in the vicinity, they, hopefully, wouldn't be in your yard.

We used liquid fence/repellent before. The problem is that after each rainfall, we have to re-apply the liquid repellent. During the fall season, it usually rain a lot. So, we eventually gave up.

I use NO DEER ZONE deer repellent. A spray bottle that sprays milk colored liquid that turns into clear shine on foliage. Cost: $11.95 for 32 FL OZ at local nursery. But you can find many more products on the internet. Cheers!

Thanks. No fence and no planting of plants/shrubs!
The link to deer repellent looks like a better solution. Will investigate more to see if anything recommended there works. Stay tuned...

This site has recommendations on plants/shrubs you can plant that beer don't usually like to eat: http://gardening.about.com/od/gardenproblems/a/DeerResistant_2.htm.

This link also describes how to order a guide to deer repellents from the USDA, and what home-grown remedies you might try: http://gardening.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&;sdn=gardening&cdn=homegarden&tm=9&gps=126_1224_1138_708&f=00&su=p284.8.150.ip_&tt=2&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//spokane-county.wsu.edu/spokane/eastside/Fact%2520Sheets/C063%2520Deer%2520Resistant%2520Plants.pdf.

Good luck!

Are there specific solutions that you are avoiding (eg. putting up a fence)?
