Telecommute Days at Microsoft (Expired)Submitted by

I used to commute to Microsoft every day and it was a huge drain on my life in general. Telecommuting is an available option, but it never works because everyone else is still at work and I would miss out on lots of stuff.
I think Microsoft should introduce telecommute days where entire teams work remotely for a day, once every month, in a staggered schedule. This way, almost everyone you need to interact with is online all day and nobody feels awkward about working remotely. Telecommute days could have mutiple immediate and long-term benefits to the company and community: - Reduced daily traffic because there would always be multiple teams telecommuting every day - Reduced power consumption at Microsoft (monitors would be off) - Potential for reducing cafeteria expenses (less people at the cafe every day) - Reduced carbon emissions - More productive time for workers - Improved online communications skills (since everyone would be practicing) Overall, I think it would be a great thing to do for Microsoft, it's employees, and the greater Seattle area. Proceeds of the project will go to the Microsoft Give campaign. ![]() Add
