Thank you everyone for submitting all the great suggestions. Brian and I decided that Colin's idea for daily activity updates was the best idea, and we're calling it the winner.

I like knowing when there are new comments/ratings on any of my ideas, any of my solutions, ideas I've contirubted to, or anywhere I've posted a comment to. Similar to the "Someone Piled On to Your Idea" and "A New Solution was Submitted" messages, I guess. I think it's easier to be social with people and go post back to them if you know there are new messages. I don't think I need an email, but maybe ideas that I've been active on (that being any of the above things) could get an indicator next to them, or I could get a message about them. Or something like read/unread comments? I'm no programmer so I don't know what would be the easiest way to implement this. That's all I've got for now.

I would be cool to see comments that are associated with a solution without having to go onto the solution page. After I left a comment for one of the solutions, I was confused as to why I didn't see it on the challenge page. It wasn't until I clicked the solution link that I saw it there. If there was some way to show the child comments indented under the solution on the challenge page, that would be helpful.

the messages in the inbox pile up pretty quickly. after i've read them all, i'd like to be able to delete them in one fell swoop - something like in gmail, where you can check the boxes next to the messages and hit a delete button, or hit "select all" and then hit the delete button. Not necessary, but would be nice. Is this possible?

I noticed that when an idea expired and the judge does not do anything to the submitted solutions, all the solutions will become rejected (maybe I am wrong about this? I am not sure). So, in this scenario, "idea is expired but not completed", one can no longer see it via Browse anymore (one can still retrieve it via Find or Tags) .
So, how about adding a new tab "Expired" for this particular scenario?

It woul be nice if the website also shows "Total fortune paid since June 2007" for this web site. Maybe you should also do the same thing for the fame points. I have an ING account and I noticed it shows "Total interest paid since September 2000" all the time. I always think that is pretty attractive.

It can be displayed next to "Play the MobIncentive Fame Game, become famous win $100"
I also think it should be displayed in facebook (I don't have account there. So, I am not sure how MobIncentive is implemented there.) This is telling people that "Yes. People are not only having fun but also making real money in the Mobincentive "

Another idea: make it possible so that users can know what other users are currently signed on to MobIncentive. This will be particulary important when you start the chat room(s), but could be fun even before then...

Give people bonus points if they get a new person to join MobIncentive. I know they already get points for making friends, but I think you should get MORE points if you were the one who brings someone onboard.

Currently, the breakdown of "earned point" are listed in a table. As the earned points grow, the list will get really huge.
Is it possible to implement a dropdown list for user to control how many rows to be displayed at a time? e.g 20, 50, 100? Then you will need <previous> <next>.
By the way, I think you want to make sure the "max" is not too big

Your inbox should now have a link that lets you view your sent messages. If the styling looks awful (the received/sent thing is huge and ugly), try refreshing the page (F5) or clearing your browser caches.

Enjoy!

Hey, one thing that's a little annoying is that when I click on the "Contribute" button. If my window is scrolled in a way that the top of the idea is not visible, then the contribution popup appears up there and it's not entirely obviously why my screen just blanked out.

I'm just a lowly native code developer so I have no idea if this is something easy to fix or not. But if you could make that popup appear where you're actually focused on the window, it'd be a little nicer.

The annoying thing where links in the inbox always go to Facebook should be fixed now. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

Another thing...

I can't view my sent messages in my Inbox, only those that have been sent to me (duh! Inbox...). It would be nice if I could see both (like in Facebook).

Also, question for Andrew... I synched this account with my Facebook account, and now every time I click on a link in my Inbox, it asks me to sign in thru Facebook, even though I am already signed in here (very annoying). Can this be fixed, maybe (please)?

I was just commeting on a few ideas and I realized it's hard to associate a comment as a response to someone else. Although, I don't know if this is something you'd actually want to try. Personally I think this is something a little difficult to do well so it might not be worth the trouble. You're a smart guy though -- so if you have a good idea on how to do it, it'd probably be a nice touch.

I think this site is going to get harder to navigate as it grows. I would really like to see a feature where I can view an idea and send it to a friend. It would be cool if I could send an idea to one of my friends and add a note.

For extra credit, the friend can be a non-member of MobIncentive. In that case, maybe it can include some extra links to help them sign up.

Agreed. I wasn't sure how to do this when creating this idea, or else it would have been part of the original. Speaking of which, I'll include that as my suggestion! Allow the judge to split up the fame points awarded... (if it's not already possible)
Added by Colin on 7/8/2007 10:14:29 PM Rating: 2
I think there should be a fame point prize for any suggestions that get used in addition to the suggestion that wins the cash. I've already seen a couple of ideas that I think would be really good.

There are four tabs (in Facebook) at the top of the page for ideas - "popular", "recent", "money", and "complete". I'd like to see one called "expiring" that shows you what ideas are expiring soon. This would be just like the "ending soonest" sort on eBay.

I think this addition would get more mileage out of ideas because, as a user, I'll use the "popular" tab to see what's happening, the "recent" tab to see what's new, and the "expiring" tab to see what's on it's way out in case I want to add a last minute contribution or solution.

I think it would be useful to have an easy way for people to market their MobIncentive idea outside the internet. For example, you could add a "Print Poster" button under the idea (I've attached a screenshot). If someone clicks the button, you generate a printable file (png? pdf? word doc?) that contains a poster for the idea. It would be a standard layout with the idea text and images, and a description of how to find the idea on MobIncentive so you can contribute.

Maybe this would get more people piling on?

Another possibility is to create community boards or some way for users to hang out/get to know one another... just a place for people to talk about everything and nothing, which is not necessarily tied to a challenge.

don't know if this has already been implemented, but:

make this an application on facebook! you can already register with your facebook account, and people are crazy about adding new apps on facebook (including myself), and you can at least get more people to try out the site that way. this would involve creating a miniature version of the site that can be embedded in a facebook profile...
